We alllll know whose hand that is.

You can post the dinner table. Two drinks. His watch. Her nails. Maybe a knee if we’re feeling reckless.

No tag. No face. No caption.

Very mysterious.

Meanwhile your friends know their first and last name, where they work, what their ex looks like, and somehow what their mom posts on Facebook.

The soft launch was never that soft.

DATING GOT A ROLLOUT STRATEGY

I don’t know when this happened, but apparently you can’t just start dating someone anymore.

There are phases.

First, nothing.

Then two coffees.

Passenger seat.

Flowers.

A suspicious shoulder.

Maybe the back of a head.

Half a face means things are progressing nicely.

Then one day, there they are.

Full face. Tagged. Carousel.

Congratulations! You have a boyfriend!

It’s ridiculous, but I get it.

Posting someone does feel weirdly official now. Maybe more official than some actual conversations people are having.

You can sleep at someone’s apartment four nights a week and still be “seeing where it goes.”

Put them on the grid?

Oh. So this is serious.

PRIVACY IS HOT. UNTIL YOU START LEAVING CLUES.

There is, of course, the privacy argument.

And I actually agree with it.

Nobody needs access to your relationship. You don’t owe us a face reveal, an anniversary carousel, or twelve paragraphs about how you found your best friend.

Please, actually. Keep some things between you.

But it does become objectively funny when someone posts every other square inch of their life and then starts photographing one specific person like they’re under federal protection.

Here’s my breakfast.

Here’s my hotel room.

Here’s the view from his balcony.

Here’s his dog.

Here’s his left forearm.

No further questions at this time.

UNFORTUNATELY, EVERYONE IS A DETECTIVE

And hiding someone never really works because the internet loves a clue.

Your best friend recognizes the tattoo.

Someone knows the restaurant.

Your cousin has zoomed into the reflection of a wine glass with the investigative resources of the FBI.

God forbid you post from their apartment twice.

Case closed.

Honestly, showing less might make people care more.

A normal picture of two people together? Cute.

A mysterious hand holding a martini?

Now unfortunately I need to know everything.

And maybe that’s the whole soft launch.

It was never really about hiding someone.

It was about saying something without technically saying it.

Two drinks means maybe.

Flowers mean somebody’s around.

Half a face means don’t ask yet.

And a tagged carousel means you may now act surprised in the comments.

So post the dinner.

Post the flowers.

Post the suspicious shoulder.

Keep the face out of frame.

We definitely have no idea who that is.
